Aside of the membership in this forum, I'm member in the Poly318 forum of Yahoo as well. Now Steve L. got in contact with Edelbrock to ask about a Eddy Performer for a Poly318. The answer from the engineer of Edelbrock was that the tooling costs are about $20'000 and they would go to from the tooling if an order reaches 50 pieces.
For stock truck application a member of the Yahoo- forum recommends a Performer and Gary P. recommends a Performer RPM (e.g. Air Gap Performer RPM). Personally I would get an Eddy Performer RPM (Air Gap), because Ißm not really happy with the Weiand 7503 I'm running now for three years. I'm missing the low end torque with the Weiand (very big single plane plenum, very short intake runners).

There is a way of getting better HP, Torque and Fuel Economy than what your A-318 engine came with.
Use NAPA's # 22599 muffler with the exhaust design attached below and your original exhaust manifolds.

There is a LOT better way than running that exhaust system, buy a set of the DTA Poly Headers....asDieter has already done...= )
Dieter, have you emailed Gary about his intake project?
It appears that Edelbrock is in no hurry.
I contacted BOTH Offenhauser and Holley, neither were interested in re-building their damaged molds for the Poly intakes that they made. The Offy is the best, it was a Dual Plane 360 design, perfect for trucks. I had one on a built 360, sure wished I had about 10 for a Poly, combined with the DTA Poly Headers they would kick some serious tail and provide better fuel economy at the same time.

Thanks a lot for your lines. While removing the old cast exhaust manifolds a stud has broken. The result was to remove the whole top of my Poly318. I brought both cylinder heads to a machining shop to a) degrease it and remove the broken stud out of the thread /wo destroying the head or thread. Both worked.
After wards I brought both cylinder heads to a engine renovation company to put in unleaded fuel rings, new valve guides as well as new viton gaskets around the valve stems.
I put together every thing and started the engine with the DTA headers. To run the truck out of the garage to move it into another corner I put short, straight exhaust pipes and Flowmaster 50 behind. Sounds very well even though the exhaust system is far away from finished.

E.G. there I read about an Aussi who put Poly heads to a LA block (only minor machining was necessary - I guess additional oil feeding and return lines) or at least two Poly stroker projects (324, 365 and 402 cid) with at least 390 HP (365, 402 cid) at less than 6000 rpm. So I personally thing a stroker Poly could outrange a stock big block with far better handling characteristics on the road (car and truck).

Very, Very, interesting! I know of a Poly owner that is also looking at stroking it out to 402 ci. Haven't heard from him for awhile, not sure if the build up has started or not.
