I was looking at the casting number on my 1967 d200 to make sure everything checked out and found the number to be 2536030-318-4. I cant seem to find any information on what the -4 means. Anybody here have any ideas??? ![Thinking :thinking](./images/smilies/icon_think.gif)

Re: 318 identification
The picture did not copy here but some good read here.
2536430-6 (block sample)
The date code and block casting numbers are found on the left side of the block. This block bears the casting # 2536430. The following chart identifies it as a 66 - 72 440 block. The casting date of 2-26-69 indicates that this is a '69 block.

Re: 318 identification
Thanks for the reply. So my block has a date code of 04287. I assume that stands for April 28, 1967 Considering the casting number corresponds to a block from 67-74. Obviously the 318 stands for the engine displacement but I'm still a little confused on the 4 on the end, or in your case the -6. I've only found a couple sites that even bring it up and it seems there is some disagreement on whether or not it has to do with the specs of the engine or if its just a number identifying the mold that it was made from.

Re: 318 identification
The 4 is a casting revision number, which indicates how many times the tooling (core molds) have been reconditioned back to the proper specifications or modified to include improvements.
The date on the block should have the actual date, not a code. It also has the time and D/N for day or night shift.

Re: 318 identification
Thanks for the information! I figured that would be what it was. I'll take a closer look tonight on the block to see if I might have misread some numbers or something. ![Salut :salut](./images/smilies/icon_salut.gif)

Re: 318 identification
So here is what I interpret to be the date info on my block. Its on the opposite side from the casting number (passenger side). I don't see anything on there separating the date like MM-DD-YY, so am I correct thinking the numbers indicate 04-28-1967?
It also looks like the "D" and "N" are substituted for 1 and 2 on my block. It still does have the clock figure though.
