cross-app advice needed
I found a set of JBA shorty headers from a 96 Dodge 1500 5.9, $125.00. Would these bolt up to my 318 LA heads?

Re: cross-app advice needed
I believe they will. I had older style headers (360) bolted to my 5.9 magnum heads at one point... the ports may be a little bigger than the 318.

They will fit, but they are not much better than the manifolds that came on it. You wont see as much of a power gain as you will over long tube headers. I'd pass on them and find a set of Hooker or Hedman long tubes. You can get them new for about the same price.

Hola Washington State Person
Sell or trade these to another and get a pair of stock OEM Exhaust Manifolds and have the exhaust system as the newer trucks starting in the eighties that have each exhaust tube routed into an dual in-let muffler.
For future maintance reasons you will be able to get to the starter, change the oil filter in an hurry and etc-etc.
Be wared if you do this, you will not have "bragging rights" of having installed headers and your dyno tested power will be worth bragging about with the retro installed dual in-let muffler.

Re: cross-app advice needed
To be perfectly honest, I've been searching for some stock manifolds to restore. Been having a hard time finding 1970 style stockers so the headers have become option number 1. The truck has already been converted to dual exhaust. so retro-fittong to the dual inlet muffler would require more expense than I want to go to right now. Hookers are a bit pricey at Jegs, but the Headman's are affordable.

Rodger, do you have a recommendation on muffler? Also, do you know off hand what size the inlet and outlet piping should be?
Shame, I just pitched a set of SB long tubes (no name). I couldn't give em' away. Nobody wanted them!

Norfolk Navy Person
The NAPA's here in town all give me the shop price for their wares, soooo I get their best goods. To me their Premuim mufflers are better sounding than all the same sounding other brands. The made for NAPA NOSR mufflers are made by Walker.
The diam of the twin in-lets should be the same in-side diam as the exhaust manifolds. This is also true if you have the slant six. For the single out-let muffler such as the performance Magnum 360's in Dodge Durango's or the like, they seem to like the ______'" pipes.
I am not fond of the "popping GTX" sound with a truck so I do not flavor the Dynomex or other brands.
