Getting close to finishing the build of a 1966 A100 pickup. The alignment of the automatic 727 tail shaft is offset from the u-joint connection at the differential 3rd member. Does this sound right?

You will probably find engine is mounted to passenger side. Chrysler did that on many models.

The centerline if the transmission mainshaft needs to be parallel with the centerline if the pinion gear. The closer these lines are together the better, but hardly ever does a vehicle have a driveline that's a straight line.

Whether those parallel lines are side by side, top over bottom or any combination doesn't matter, at least within a certain amount of articulation.
