carburetor alternatives
carburetor alternatives
I just posted and then thought of another question. I have a 225 six and I'm not favorably impressed with either the Holley or Carter 1 barrel carbs(I've tried both). I probably should have gone straight to a Weber 2 barrel conversion kit but the price scared me off. In hind sight after buying rebuilt carbs and trying to fix the one I had with a rebuild kit , I might not have spent any more and would now have the problem solved. I could get a 2 barrel manifold and Carter 2 barrel carb(hard to find). Does anyone have any other ideas?
Re: carburetor alternatives
Hello, re: sources for webber carb go to web sites for cars that use weber down draft 2bl carb I am thinking Fiat or Lancia and look for
a used one,not big bucks. Kits are still available. Some were set up with primary & secondary, use two for great mileage & some performance.
Clifford sells stuff for slant six also.

Re: carburetor alternatives
Like the old saying, "You get what ya pay for" plays here. I messed around with a 1 bbl for sooooooooooooo long and got nowhere. Then I found a super 6 manifold and never lloked back after bolting on a Weber 2bbl. You could play around with someone elses headache carb and still get nowhere. I say do it and be done, you won't regret it. Tuning, reliability, ease of starting are a breeze. Im using a 32/36 D?g?? manual choke unit. My biggest problem was figuring out the linkage and all as this was on a A100 Van. I see that they make a 1 bbl seen here. http://www.carburetion.com/weber/weberpartscarb.asp
And just a couple other Weber sites to perk you up. http://www.racetep.com/weber.html http://www.piercemanifolds.com/products.htm
