I saw a 392 in a Old Swept line truck once in Long beech CA at a swap meet in the 90s Old man had it. But it was not original to the truck.

The 392 was only built for 2 years 57 and 58 only, the 331 and 354 was available in other years.

I have a totally complete running air cleaner to pan 1957 354 Spitfire you can Bolt 392 hemi heads on if any one is interested in it?
Engine makes 310 hp and 405 ft lbs tq + from factory as it sits, its in a 57 Saratoga with a cast Iron Torq flight but I wanna keep that for parts for my 57 New yorker.

In the late 80's I was looking for a D100 Town Panel to put a 392 (1st gen) in. Seen a few around and most didn't like the prices others the colors. A friend told me of a Town Wagon (D100) with a 392. I said GREAT! that would save me a lot of work. Went to look at it and #2 cylinder was hurt and putting a lot of water out the exhaust. Noticed the bell housing mounts and motor mounts and brackets all looked factory. Negotiated a price and hauled it home. It was/is a 66 Town Wagon.

It had 354 heads, aftermarket intake spacers, dual life dizzy, thermostat crossover shortened and welded, center dump exhaust manifolds, Milo-Don spin on filter adapter, and a few other tricks. Fixed the hurt cylinder and put 92 heads on and milled the intake for a Holley 600. Drove it for about a yr and spun #1 rod bearing. Oh! by the way, this it the truck I cracked that NP435 trans housing in PwrWgnDrvr.

All that said I had always thought/assumed the W frames were about the same with maybe thicker frame or more braces to where I found (also in the late 80's) a 69 W100 and pulled the 4x4 stuff out and put under the Town wagon. Didn't know at the time it would probably have been easier to swap bodies. After putting the 4x4 stuff in I didn't get back around to fix'n the motor. That was 35ish yrs ago.

When you keep adding projects to the herd,...the latest purchase a lot of the times becomes the new toy.
