Leaf spring differences?

Post by Jawzjeep »

Ive read about a heavy duty spring option but my eyes are about to bug out. Can anyone take a picture of their front and rear leaf springs? Im looking for the spring rates of 61-67 W100 and W200, and what this 'heavy duty' suspension consists of. More leaves? Stiffer rate? Help a brother out?
Im still learning here.

Thanks

Whatever was stock in your truck will be listed on the VIN plate.

I have no access to vin number or the plate in the door jamb currently. Door is jammed up and wont open and its not in my yard to check any other location. Its a few towns over. I haven't got it out of my dead dads name or found paperwork for it so...
:banghead

Seems to be other questions answered with more than 'look at your truck' or 'check a FSM' or 'check your vin'.

Let me try asking a different question...

What are spring rates for 61-67 W100 and W200?

Check the parts manual. :dance :joker

All kidding aside.... an official Dodge Truck parts manual would probably give you
what you're after. My '68 W100 has what appears to be the same leaf count
as my '68 w200. I'll also add that because these trucks are more than 50 years
old now..... previous owner[s] might have messed with suspension components
at some point.

Thanks hobcobble

Are you and pwrwgndrvr the only ones hanging around here?

Yeah I know other owners swap stuff around. Im guilty too.

If you're correct that your W100 and W200 springs are the same, and I read axles are same, and saw here somewhere that the frames are the same thickness... I guess Im trying to see where the differences between the 1/2 and 3/4 ton are. I can put a lot of weight in a shortbox so I dont think that's the limiting factor. Just trying to wrap my head around it is all. I cant picture the dodge guys thinking, "we'll put a shortbed on to make it a 1/2 ton, because you cant fit 3/4 in it." Or something to that affect. :thinking

Just want to give some background on me and my junk. This isnt my first project. First dodge though.

Im a truck guy. Always have been. Ive owned many. Do 99% of the works that's needed on them. All are 4x4. All my current driving rigs run on oversized tires except the wife's daily and her mustang.

14 bolts, dana 60s (gm & superduty), HP dana 44's, 205, 241, 231, nv4500, th400, ax15, 454, 390 FE, 302, 2 sets of humvee 37s and 1 set of humvee beadlock rims are just sitting in my yard waiting their respective turns.

My horde besides powerwagon is 66 mustang, 70 jeepster, 76 F250 highboy (my daily/weekly), 78 k5, 89 jeep yj, 91 suburban, 93 gmc 2500, 99 yukon, 2003 tahoe (wife's dd)

Just so you dont think im a complete noob. Just noob to dodges.

If you would buy the FSM, you would have all the answers.
There is a difference in GVW, spring packs, as well as special order options. I don't have time to type it all up.

Tell me you dont know without telling me you dont know. How about a picture like I was asking for in the original post? It may help me narrow it down. Picture says a 1000 words dont ya know. :joker

I see questions that could be answered by looking in the FSM everywhere here. But instead they get answers. Does everyone have this FSM? What did I say or do to get the stiffarm? :thinking Its not even Tuesday.

I digress. I guess I'll take the hint.
