W500 seal number

Post by porky69 »

Has anyone had any luck finding a part number for the front inner hub seal number for the FDS750 front axle on a W500?

I am in the midst of doing a disc brake conversion and figure if I am in this far (down to spare spindles) I might as well replace as many parts as I can (already have bearings and races). Mine aren't leaking (at least not enough to worry about) and don't want to pry mine off (in other words wreck them) unless I can be sure there are replacements available.I can't find any reference online to this axle and therefore no part numbers....

Rockwell A1205R772 oil seal
Tractor Service & Supply, Inc.
P.O. Box 07886
Columbus, OH 43207
(800)848-9456

This is from a old post circa 2009; not sure if it is correct.
I'm not sure how to link the old post to this thread. It did say in the post that the seals were very sturdy. Good that you didn't remove them before sourcing new ones.

I saw that post...after I posted.... :study

That part number is now inactive on the Rockwell/Meritor parts site and comes up unknown in all of the seal interchanges (CR,SKF,National,Etc). Only one supplier shows them...at $150 each....I think I may take a chance on the old ones....
