Need counsel on purchase

Post by mtnmike »

Hi team, I just picked up an early '65 D200, and before I could even get started, I stumbled on a '62 PowerWagon flatbed, on a farm, in my backyard. Any big "gotcha's" to look out for? All I know is that he put a 360 in it, and tomorrow I'll do a walk-around. It's in a field of cattle, and I didn't want to trespass. Appreciate any advice.

The 360 needs a balanced flywheel if this Power Wagon has a 4spd set up.
I'm sure others will add to this....

Maybe the owner didn't want him trespassing either & shot him. Or the cows took him out. Or he forgot his password & can't post his 2nd post.

Is this 4spd set up original? Is it a hydraulic clutch?
Again.... if this is a 360, you should try to confirm if the flywheel
was balanced. A working PTO/Winch is definitely a bonus. :Thumbsup

Thanks Hobcobble! Really good tips. I think the 4-spd is original, and I didn't even notice if there was a master for the clutch. The bed is OD, so it may be off a military truck. The truck is cool, complete, and cheap, but I am negotiating for a 1 family '58 D-100 (original mats and flathead six) at the same time. It would make an easier project. I just sold my '50 GMC 100 and the wife's '58 Apache, so I kinda got the old-pickup blues, but I'm in the middle of putting an injected V12 in a '71 XKE, and I'm replacing the door latches in the Sweptline, so I don't need more projects. I can get some pics of the PW, if anyone is interested, and then I'll be gone.

Was a W300, but wasn't there when I went by today. Since I'm not interested, and it seems to be gone, I am retiring from this thread. Thanks to those who helped! Mike
