Even the transfer case for a full time 4WD is different than a TC for a locking hub front axle. I like 74 and older for the divorced transfer case and lock out option. You can probably use a lock out front axle w/ full time transfer case if you leave the front axle locked in all the time.

Kits are available to convert Full Time T Case to part time and added bonus giving you 2 wheel drive low for backing trailers. I have converted 3 Full Time trucks over the years. Would do it again. :Thumbsup :Thumbsup :Thumbsup

I have an entire 76 Dodge 44HD with lockouts, located near Toledo, OH, but it's a drum brake axle... you'd still need a few specific parts to convert to discs.
How did you get a 76 with drum brakes? 74 was the last year for drums.
It could have been swapped. It was this old plow truck I scrapped about two years ago. The title/vin was '76 the axle looked like it hadn't been replaced, but definitely has drums.

not sure but that truck is probalbly a sno-fiter package which could possibly have still come with part time set up and a 60 or 70 front axle.

So ive had a 78 w100 for 25 years, and ive considered all the conversion options to convert 3/4 ton, larger lug pattern etc. I still have the milemarker conversion kit with mm lockout hubs. the 1/2 ton hubs are simple but i dont know much about the 3/4 ton stuff. the 81-85 conversion to 3/4 with part time trucks looks like the simplest/cheapest way to go. just my two cents. btw- i bought a 2006 and 2018 power wagons instead.
