1980 disc dana 44 into 70 w-100

Post by Jim100 »

I finally acquired a disc dana 44 in the form of a 1980 with locking hubs.
The right side has bolts sticking out of the center section so there must be a plate then that goes over the top of springs to other u-bolt?

I will have to move shock mounts to opposite side.
I can use my 70 drag/center link?
Master cylinder for disc drums.
Proportioning valve for disc drum.

Any other tips? Im in no hurry luckily.
Thanks,
jim

Jim I just put front 60 out of a 90 Dodge under my Crewcab. I unbolted the springs and rolled my old axle out and new one in. The draglink bolted right in. I don’t think the box is centered though, but it does bolt in. It is a bit of a bear to turn I must admit. Not to bad while it’s moving, but still a bit of work. I don’t have my shock mounts built yet, but it’s on the to do list. I’m suffering from a terrible death wobble at about 25 mph, so that’s my biggest issue right now.
