Seeking production data for the 1968 W-200 series. In particular -- this truck. W-200 Camper Special Custom w/383 (factory lift). I think the total production was somewhere around 400 +/-. The only non-stock items are bumpers/winch and the wheels/tires. They are Ford 8 lug/16". Thanks in advance to all who can provide info...and no, it's not for sale, just want to know more about the truck.

Welcome to the site. :welcome :usa Great looking W200.
I'm not sure there was a "factory" lift though. The pre-'69
Ws sat higher than their successors. :study Unless another
wheel is called out on the data plate, your W likely had the
split ring 16" wheels and 7.50 x 16 tires. Lots of folks ditched
the split ring wheels in favor of the one piece wheels. :2cents

Thanks for the reply. I believe the Camper Special version had the "high boy" lift from the factory. The truck had the original tires and the split rims on it. In fact, I have the original spare/wheel still riding along where it was since new. Tire still has the mold "nubs" on it. I replaced them with Ford 8 lugs (16"). Cheers.

All 68 and older W 100/200 sit higher than Dseries or 69/71 W100/200 series. Of all the 68 and older W100/200 trucks I have owned or parted they all basically sat the same height.

Maybe someone here has some supporting documentation on the "High Boy" lift you're talking about. :study
I've never heard of it. :thinking

As mentioned the High-Boy thing is Ford, there was no optional lift for the W's. All 61-68 W's will have a block between the spring pack and rear axle only, nothing up front, but it is stock oem. A lot of people refer these truck to the High-Boy era, because of the lifted stance these trucks have and Dodge did lower the W's for 1969-up to lower the center of gravity on the W's.

My 68 with TSL 34x10.50 16's

There are no break down in total number of trucks sold per engine size, only that 1968 model year, 5308 W200's were sold per-Galen's Tag Service, LLC.

The closest you'll come to any production numbers on 68 383 W200 CS's will be to search the registry to see how many are still in existence, other than that, to my knowledge there is no documentation for your question.

Here's a stock 1969 W200 and if you look at the fender opening to the top of the tire, there is a decrease in height, by a couple inches.Image
