W500 Brownie

Post by BuffaloJoe »

I have a 1964 W500 318 without an auxiliary transmission. Anybody have a W500 with one? If so could I have a brand & model #. Or input on anything that works for you Thanks

Not sure why you would have an auxiliary transmission. 4 SPD or 5 SPD trans would have been available for that model, But why would it have and where would an auxiliary trans go in it. Special order possibly.
I can see a 2 spd rear end possibly with some sort of safety interlock so it could only be in Hi or Lo as needed for four wheel drive. :thinking :thinking

There is 'bout three feet between transmission & tc. data tag on door has aux trans, it is blank. rear gears are 6.8-1, I was looking for an overdrive brownie, don't need to slow it down any. Thanks

Aux trans is something that would be used in many makes of trucks. Widen your search to any yards that specialize in medium /heavy duty trucks. :thinking

Didn't MikeMc have one in his McMobile? There is a thread on it several pages long in the member's build forum.
