from a 208 to a 205 transfer case

hi here is my problem' i have a 1984 w350 360 auto tranny 208 transfer case that is toasted. will a 205 bolt right in? there is not one 208 in the state of ohio, i have a good 203 with a rebuilt tranny here in the garage but i don't know if it will work? its full time i know. the spicer 44 front axel has lockout's on it. any and all help would great. thanks john

I think it's the same adapter for Torque flite to either T-case as long as the 205 came off a T/F. Go see these guys they have a section just for that series of Dodge 4X4 trucks and a lot of knowledge. I hang out there sometimes, good fellas.

The 203 you have will work as long as you have the correct adaptor for your tranny. Keep in mind though that you will need to either keep your hubs locked all the time or keep the 203 in hi-loc. It won't move unless you do one or the other. The 208 and 205 use the same adaptor as far as I know, that would be the better anyway as far as I am concerned. I am thinking of doing the 208 to 205 swap in my 85 W150 with the one ton axles. Heres a link to another dodge truck site I belong to, these guys will have all the info you need

There is also a part-time conversion kit fot the 203.
