Diff Gearing?

Post by ArmchairRacer »

I just picked up a 65 W100 with the factory 44 front and 60 rear, I'm planning on swapping in a disk brake front axle so I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what gearing is currently in the diffs so I can regear the new front to match. The truck is a 318/4sp if it makes a difference. Help is appreciated.

What does it say on VIN tag. My guess is 4:10. (Maybe 4:88) Pull the rear cover and look at ring gear. Change oil while your at it.

I have it stored at my brother's house about an hour away, I'll check the vin tag next time I get the chance.

I would do what ever it takes to be positive of ratio before i bought an axle and certainly before I put it on the truck. I wouldnt trust a vin tag, like mentioned before I would need to see the numbers on the ring gear itself.
