When you get under & look at springs, yeah not lifted. Someone said the earlier trucks had different fenders making them look lifted. Or something like that.

Updates:
I got hood hinges off a '70. Now my hood stays up.
I replace my janky rear view mirror w/ one from the '70.
I got the hubs off the '70, just not installed yet. Gotta remove some broken bolts. Or go back to yard & get the pass side bearing hub.

Oh, battery is crap. Will swap w/ Scout when I sell it.

Today's progress: I think got everything off the junkyard '70 I can afford. I got the Warn hubs off it, but my pass side wheel hub turned out to have damage. Went back out to yard & grabbed one. Probably should've got both. My pass side drum was in bad shape. Got the drum & hub on! It was raining so I only did pass side.
While I was there I got a throttle control cable. It holds the throttle steady for PTO's or whatever. It bolts to firewall the same as the pedal on my '62. I had to do a ghetto fix on my pedal, so this will be a cool swap.

Cool truck. My 62 came with a np420 trans, but if you have a newer engine the trans could've been changed also.

That throttle control set up would be mighty handy for anyone who has
a '69-'71 truck with an LA318 and LU-2 winch.

I'm not 100% sure what trans I have. Haven't scraped all the goo off yet. Doesn't look like there is room for the shaft to add a PTO to the trans (pass side). Maybe transfer case? What did the LU2 do? I have a PTO winch setup off an old chevy. I think it is driver side of trans. The PTO itself is one of the cool universal ones with forward & reverse. Take it apart, swap guts around, & put back together.

A standard set up would include a T-case driven Braden FTD-7 PTO
along with the shafts/pillow blocks that would run up along the left
part of the frame. The [Chelsea] tranny PTOs were also popular. They
do require some shimming depending on what you're working with.
Your truck likely has the NP420 tranny.

Thanks guys for info. I am very familiar with SM420 (chevy guy), but not NP420 so I'll do some research. All I can tell you is this has reverse to right & down. A different trans might explain why the tunnel cover is butchered.

Update: I got the flatbed installed! Lot of fun, but I definitely won't be stealing jobs from woodworking guys. I used treated redwood. Will add some kind of front board/headache rack after I finalize my storage plans. Just have to mount the mirrors & taillights and this beast will be roadworthy. I can't wait to see how it does offroad. I hit a local trail yesterday, and had to turn around at a huge rock that you had to go down. My Scout wouldn't have made it back up (trail was in & out) without risk of breaking. I know the PW could do it.
I may have to cut out the boards above the tires, but I jacked it up & it doesn't look like the suspension flexes enough to worry about. We'll see. Oh, the trees are dead because of the Hayman fire in 2002.

My LU-2 was driven off of t-case (divorced NP205) on the driver's side. I think the majority of the LU-2's were this way.

Finally got my side mirrors mounted & my better tires mounted. Only got to drive it 1/4 mile, but I can tell it has plenty of power. I'm used to a worn out 4 banger. Now I just have to get wipers working & go through brakes.

One last update & I'll let this thread fade.

I finally took it out for a maiden voyage! Drove about 15 miles to buy a 318 off craigslist. The truck did very well. I'm surprised how easy it is to steer. Suspension is pretty stiff, but it is a 3/4 ton. Still having carb issues, but that is why I bought the 318.
It is about an '80. It has electronic ignition and 4 brl intake. The carb is a Carter AFB. Supposedly the engine only has about 40k miles on it. It's possible, I guess. Too bad I had gone to junkyard & picked up an electronic distributor & 4 brl intake last week. Tomorrow I will put the junkyard 4brl intake & Carter on the 318 in the truck. I'll save the new 318 for a spare & maybe soup it up a little.
