Hey what truck can I find a narrow dual wheeled axle on. I dont want a wide axle like what you find on a dually pickup.
Thanks,
Hoss
In Search of an axle
Re: In Search of an axle
The 69-71 d/w 300 dodge or a chevy 1 ton axle from a cab and chassis will bolt up and give you 8 lugs in a narrow stance.
It's good to see you posting again! Do you have any progress pictures?

its been a looong time hasn't it. Life gets in the way sometimes. Big John is in storage because I moved to a new place with more room for projects as soon as I can build a shop. I thought a cab chassis axle would be a direct replacement. I did some research and it looks like rear dually hubs for a dana 70 from a 1 ton tomid 70s to 89 will interchange. Same bearings and races. Unsure on the axle shafts though.

There was 3 different spline counts, IIRC. Also, not sure about C+C axles, but I think they are all different lengths. One of the nice things about an open diff is that swapping axle spline counts is only a matter of replacing the spiders, so if you have a parts axle that has the shafts, just grab the spiders and you can change it over.

Re: In Search of an axle
I have a Dana-70 out of a `86 Cab and chassis dually if you need some measurements off it. It looks very narrow.
