Dana 44F closed Knuckle locking hubs
The Warn locking hubs on my 68 W200 are about shot. Is there any place where I can get a kit to rebuild the ones I have. Or, if anyone has a good set that they want to part with? Trade?

I could still get parts for a set on a 1946 CJ2A. Selectro hubs for a Spicer model 41 front axle. Push come to shove, go to a 4X4 shop. I can get parts for Marmon Herrington conversions from several of the local shops, so Dana 44 hubs should be a piece of cake. Even for a closd knuckle axle.

I have several scouts with IH (Warn) and one of them has Mile Marker on it. I measured them and they are all to small to fit the 44F closed knuckle.
I pulled the ones off the 44F and the tips of the splines on the clutch ring are shreaded off. and the clutch screw has the tips of the threads broken off. These appear to be the sacrifical parts of the hub assy.

Warn hubs
I replaced the hubs on my 69 W100 last year. The set I used are Warn p/n 20990. Got them at Auto-Zone for $89. These have the chrome outer part, but I think they have an even cheaper set. The local 4X4 store had a re-build kit but it only had some "O" rings and other small parts.

I am not sure about this, but the "F" is for "FRONT".
The "closed knuckle" is simply that the universal joints for the front drive axles are enclosed in a ball and socket arrangement. Thus, closed knuckle joint as opposed to the open arrangement on the later front 4X4 axles.

Those parts aren't "sacrificial", sounds like the hub was incorrectly adjusted (when the selector dial was set to 'FREE', it was still partially engaged). Since only the tips of the splines were sheared, it was probably only one pin off. You have to pull all the drive pins out, set the dial to 'FREE', bottom the ring and then turn it back out just enough to get the drive pins in. The broken screw threads are a mystery to me. There shouldn't be any load on them, only on the clutch splines and the drive pins. Maybe someone tried to pound/pry the hub off of there without removing the snap ring first???

All I need is the front hubs. If you are willing to part it out. If not, then how much is cheap. Depending on your location shipping might/would be prohibitive.

The hubs are good. The "clutch ring" is the part that I need. I will have to take them back off to get a number. I used a dremmel tool and very carefully reshaped the face of the clutch rings. Reassembled them and the are working but I had to remove about 1/8" of the splines to get them back in shape. The next time I pull them off I'll get a number.

so what are ya REALLY looking for? The stock closed knuckle unit or an open knuckle unit to replace them with? Seems Norm had a post re a 84 or 85 open knuckle unit (whole front end) to replace the ckossed kuckle unit!
Pat
I used a Warn unit from NAPA to put new outer hubs on my 68 W200 for less that $100,00. In replace of the 'turn bar' units.
