that would be a nice truck, what were you planning on doing with it?

usually require a good deal of parts and labor as
you "go through" them to ensure they're road ready
and reliable. I'd say, at minimum, that truck will
"test" your love for working on cars.....
I'd say that you're probably going to have to sink
in just about as much as you pay for the truck to
get it up to snuff.

I would say get it if it isn't a total rust bucket. Like others have said, however, be prepared to get tested. For example, my crew was $500 and I now have about $5000 in it. I did buy some good stuff, but still, old cars cost a lot of money and time. Like you said, though, you will have a unique vehicle, which is more than 98% of the people on the road can say.

If you go and look at it check for rust. If it isn't completely rusted out I think that is a good price for a truck in Minnesota. In the upper midwest you are going to pay more than somebody in the desert southwest for a comparable truck.
As far as having no experience, you have to start somewhere. I'm doing a complete frame up build and I have little experience. Pretty much anything you encounter will have been encountered before and someone here can probably help you figure it out.
