Lifting the front end wihout alot of $?

Post by 66sportfury »

Okay i just got a 70 powerwagon and am curious of how i can lift the front without killing myself? because after lookin up if i could put blocks in the front, i figured that wouldn't be the best idea.
So i cant really think of any thing that doesn't cost alot of money, cause im already 625 in debt to my brother
And i figured that theirs probably some old people that have done this a million times, that would be willing to share?
Thanks for the idea's or just lookin "yes i no its ugly and really rough but i don't care its a 4x4 i intend to beat the hell out of it" :Thumbsup ...ps the hood hinges are broke so the hood don't close :usa

You might get a few inches by having the springs re-arched. I don't know the cost of this but I wouldn't think it would be too much. If I remember correctly 2 wheel drive truck springs have more arch in them. Some people used 4 wheel drive truck springs to lower their trucks so the other way should lift it. I don't know how much of a lift you are looking for.

the front i only need like 2-4 inches cause im gonna replace the back blocks with alittle bigger ones. And i heard re arching leafs are expensive. What im wondering is how these 4x4's are getting the same height in the front? Like my moms ford that she sold, it had 13 leafs and a 3 1/2 inch block in the back! That would mean that the front would of had to been re arched like 10 inches.

70's and 80's chevys and dodges up to 93 used the same dimension front springs.Hit the junk yards and look for lifted trucks. :Thumbsup If you just want it to set level, just replace those worn out springs with dang near anything...

Digdoug beat me to it. Go to PullNsave and get some front springs from a 3/4 ton 72 to 93 dodge.

Soopernaut, you remember correctly. Should be right in his 2-4 inch range.

The original poster's springs are also on top of the axle. That is the way they came from the factory. There is nothing to flip unless he wants to lower it. The Jeep comment is because some Jeeps had the springs under the axle.

I learned something then, I thought all older dodges were spring over.

If the springs have a negative arch you could put them under the axle to get a lift, but it is probably time to upgrade.

I've been trying to figure out if I can stuff that wheel/tire combo under my '67 W200 ever since I got it. Might play it safe and go with 33s

My 67 has 285-75-17's on it. If it was lifted it came that way?
