output shaft swap?

Post by Jim100 »

Does anyone know if it is possible, without removing the unit, to install the 4x4 powerwagon transmission output shaft that rests on crossmember onto the transmission in a d-100? This may sound weird but I am researching ways to move all the 4x4 parts from one truck onto a d-100 with a good motor and am looking at the variables with least amount of lifting and moving heavy things.
Thanks all.

Sorry,Jim, you have to dissemble the tranny to remove the output shaft.

Looks like the transmissions will have to swap. I suspect different splines on input shaft so I will have to then replace the clutch which is probably a good thing anyway. Is it possible to replace the clutch from the bottom through that removable plate without taking the bellhousing off? Sorry for these ignorant questions.
