Anyone ever seen side step fuel tanks on the cab or uteline bed of a W300? I am committed to relocating the tank from the cab to either the rear under bed area( very limited room )
or possibly something like dual steel step tanks in place of the cab or bed running boards.
Thanks

Re: Side step fuel tanks
I was thinking something more like this. Possibly in place of the front running board on the utline bed. One on each side. I have been looking at tanks for the area under the bed behind the rear axle. The W300s don't have much space back there. I would like to get a total of at least 30 gal. Maybe 15 gal side tanks.
Thanks

Re: Side step fuel tanks
I had the idea to make something similar to the picture of the red one but basically replace the running boards on my D300 with them and to have a flat bottom for clearance but make them polished stainless or polished aluminum and have a step to help with getting into the truck. I think it would be an awesome idea. That with possibly a 12Valve Cummins. It would be like a Mini Rig. I thought it would be an awesome idea. Just a matter of finding something that will work or fabbing something up.

Re: Side step fuel tanks
I like the tank/step idea.
Alot of guys are using slip tanks under the tool box in the bed. This would also looks good because you get to keep the factory steps.

Did you every get anywhere on this idea? I have a W300 crew cab that I am doing a Cummins swap and have been thinking of dual saddles. with the measurements I am using I would be around 45gallons/tank. http://www.metaltanks.com/tank-capacity-calculators
This place has about all the parts you need to make your own.

Re: Side step fuel tanks
years ago there were tanks that replaced the running boards on some W-300s in the NW
full legnth about 4" deep at the step and 4 to 6"s wide going up to the bottom of the cab.
never found out who made them and didn't have money to try and get them
