my plan for the truck is to get it running and be road worthy. The door is off because the people I bought it from were in the process of putting a floor and rocker panels in it. I am planning to drive it like that for a while then paint it either black or dark green. It has a 318 3 speed manual on the tree. It also has the factory pto wintch and bumper.

Just seeing all the FARGO badges
intact is cool. To find one with a
braden LU-2 winch and a decent
original winch bumper is a bonus.
Good find. The paint has a great
patina to it..... you lucked out
big time. :clap :clap

Yeah I'd love an original winch bumper for my Fargo. Gotta love the SWB trucks! :Thumbsup

I've thought about turning my truck into a Fargo. Just wondering easy is it to bring a Canadian vehicle to the states?

I know people that have brought cars in to canada from the states with no problems. I don't know if it would be the same for taking a canadian car to the states.

I got my '68 Charger from Tampa... no problems. I've always wanted a '96-'02 Ramcharger from Mexico...
My mother's boyfriend has sold cars to people in the States.
But we run into problems importing cars that have no Canadian couterpart. Maybe this is true for the U.S. as well.

As far as I know the trucks are only designated "D" or "W". 100 would imply 1/2 ton. My tag does not specify a model.
Also I don't think the VIN decoder works for Canadian trucks as I've tried it with no success...

I have the information to decode Canadian trucks but it isn't an automatic decoder. You actually have to do the work.

The E code letter in the vin is correct for Power Wagons. I have two 1971 Power Wagons one is a w200 the other a w300, and both of their vin's have a E. My 1961 w200 doesn't tho, its vin is all numbers no letters which it doesn't have the model in the vin but the next sequence numbers are Vehicle model and it says w200.

Thanks for that! My VIN pans out as Power Wagon 200 V8 shortest wheelbase. Canadian built for Canada.
Only thing I don't understand is the 4th digit... 2="S" series truck? I guess they were all "S" series.
Also 5th digit= Assembly plant: "J"=Canada, "S"=Warren, "U"= Missouri...
My 5th digit is a 9.

The R&S series thing might be for specific years. I think each year had a different letter for the series but nobody ever uses this. The VIN decoding might be different for other years. If someone had the Canadian shop manuals for each year they might provide better information.
