NP205 T-case compatibility

Post by moparman336 »

i am having trouble finding a replacement t-case for my truck as i have been advertising for the past couple weeks and i have only got a couple replies and both guys want $700+ but there was one guy that had a 205 divorced t-case out of an International for $300. now i know it is a passenger side front output but does anybody have a guess to what size the u-joints would be or what the spline count on the yokes would be. or would the case even bolt up to my crossmember? :study

I just found out either here or on Gordon's site about an International website called binderplanet.com ...If you register there & are able to navigate through the forums (very similar to here), those guys might be able to help anwer your questions about the specifics of the International version of the NP205...I don't know how it differs from the Dodge version.

For what it is worth, I had heard of various spline counts, but my limited experience is this: I have had 2 ford married 205s, and now my dodge divorced one. All three have 1330 joints, and 32 spline yokes. I have a spare ford one that I just tried on my dodge, and it is the same.

My point is this- it seems likely that 99% of the time the parts will be the same.

What is wrong with the old one? They aren't hard to rebuild.
What a mess.

I don't know if it will answer your questions, but here is some extra info on the big 3 use of the 205.

thanks for the links guys, with my old t-case the tranny shop had it ripped apart 3 times and still couldnt get it to work right. the short stub driveshaft between the tranny and t-case had a 2 inch drop in it which seemed to be putting to much stress on the t-case which made it vibrate. any time i shimmed the front of the case up to lessen the angle the vibration would go away but then the driveshaft angle to the front diff would be to great and bind so that was not the answer. i even fabricated a tranny mount that was 3/4 inch thinner to lessen the angle but it still didnt help. every thing was the stock setup along with 3 brand new balanced driveshafts so i ended up saying screw it and started looking for a new t-case. after phoning 30 different guys and posting all over the net for the last month i have finally found a t-case locally just tonite. so im crossing my fingers that it works or im jumping it into the river.
