Do you have a factory service manual? It is in there, with a decent pic. Interestingly enough, the fsm shows the brake on the back, but I'd bet the manual never got changed from earlier. If you want to pm me an email address, I'll take pics of the manual pages and send them to you.

By, "the output gear," I assume you mean the main driveshaft gear. If you have a photo, I'd like to see it.

From what I own and have seen, the last year for the np201 ebrake was 65. I have a 65, it has the ebrake, I just bought a 66, it doesn't, and neither does my 67. A 201 is similar to a 205, but as mentioned earlier, there are more tapered rollers in a 201. I rebuilt mine, if you have access to a press, it will help. Also, the output gear has torsional springs that will need to be dealt with. Take pictures as you tear it down, I will check again to see if I have a manual that covers it. I have worked in the trans industry for 30 years, I had built most tcases there was, but untill I did my own, I had not seen a 201. It might be difficult to find someone who has done one. I will help if I can, pm me if you need help. I just finally got the last pieces I need to put the ebrake on the back of mine, thanks Jack.
You are welcome Mark I know how difficult it can be locating some of these pieces, unfortunately I have not had any luck sourcing parts in the parts wanted section of this forum either.

the springs can break and then can go through the gears chipping them.
this is after welding. There is a thread about here about it somewhere. I checked to see if my suppliers can get a bearing and seal kit. I can get one, but it comes only with the big bearings, not the rollers.

I have two '68 NP201 cases without the brake. I also have a 205 on another truck.

Place called Cobra Transmission, lists a full rebuild kit for a 201. Decently priced too.
