Look at what I picked up today in San Diego

Post by ricknadine1111 »

I got this e-mail from Chad the other day and after some phone tag I agreed to drive down to San Diego to look at a 1969 cab that he has had in storage. This cab was bought from a guy who bought it from a little old lady who's husband had passed away and he had left the truck in the garage with a blown motor. I was told that this 39 year old cab and the doors were rust free and Chad wanted $750.00 for the cab and doors, now I don't know about you but that is a lot of money for a stripped cab and doors even if it is a Adventure series truck cab. So I took a drive with my trailer in tow and took a look at the cab and I was amazed no rust even the window sill was rust free the windows are in perfect shape and the doors are also rust free and even the vent windows were rust free and the crank mech and glass is perfect. "Oh" one other thing a chrome-molly roll bar had been installed and it was in perfect shape with some of the best welds I have ever seen. I paid the money and took the cab and doors for my project truck. I hope I got a good deal I could use one this year.

For rust free... I think you did well :Thumbsup I would have
had no problems paying what you did.

It looks like a great buy. With the rust that I've cut out of my 69 crew cab, I don't ever want to hear the name rust again. Being a drag racer I spotted the Cage right away. I'll probably kick my self for not putting a cage in mine. I just have to much left to do to think about a huge extra project like a cage.

Have fun!

That seems a little high at first, but if the doors are as nice as the cab you probably saved yourself more than that much money in the long run.

I have to agree also that seems high, but as mentioned if their is no Rust anywhere then i think I also could see someone paying that for the cab and doors, but not me, I'm too cheap.

Looks like you'll have to cut your dashboard to fit
around that roll cage. With or without that cage, it
is worth every penny you paid. :Thumbsup

I live in San Diego and I would say you made a good buy..That said, I need to ask you about the tires on your ram P/U...Are those STA tires?? I am looking for that
exact tread design, and they appear to be Specialty Tire of America?? Thanks..Robert
