I posted yesterday about checking the brakes on a 4X4, got some good info. Today at the shop I noticed my hubs were on lock but I was out of the 4 wheel, when I put the gear shift in neuteral, and tried to turn the back wheel the drive shaft turned on the drivers side, and I couldn't even turn the wheel drum by hand on the passenger side. I could use some help on this one. I am thinking for one my slave cylinder needs help, cause I can feel it in the pedal. Two, I am stuck in 4 wheel? I hope I didn't damage anything by leaving the hubs in.
Regarding your back brake problem.... did you try backing off the star
wheel adjuster? This may or may not help. It sounds like your shoes
may be frozen to the drums. I just went through this with my '67 W200.
You might try rapping the drum with a hammer [don't beat too hard on it].
Have you opened the bleeder to that wheel cylinder? You might also try
to remove the anchor bolt [this is what the shoe springs hook over] and
wheel cylinder and pull the whole works by slowly rocking & prying on
the drum with just enough force to pop the shoe retainer pins/keeper
springs. Not a fun job if the shoes are frozen.
