Whats needed?

I have a 71 d200 that I would like to make into a 4x4 what is the best and easies way to do this and what parts are needed... Thanks Dan

The easiest way is to find a 69 - 71 W100 or 200 and swap the stuff over to your truck. It's mostly bolt in if you do it that way. You only have to drill four holes in your frame to mount the transfer case crossmember, and cut a hole in the floor for the shifter. It's what I did to my truck four years ago. In my opinion you don't want to do it without a parts truck because there's too many little things you need, like pitman arm, transfer case shifter, blocks for rear axle, etc. If you are comfortable with fabricating mounts, what I'd do if I were doing it now, would be to use a later model truck for parts so I would have disc brakes and an integrated transfer case.

russ is right, a 4x4 donor truck is your best bet. and depending on your fab skills, a newer truck would render you better brakes, and an easier time at the parts house in the future. :Thumbsup

A crate 426 Hemi, Clutchflight, Atlas transfer case, Rockwell 2 1/2 ton steer axles with pinion brakes, and 2.5 wheel borrows of cash.

Oh almost forgot (4) 52" Michelin "Hemmit" tires with beadlock wheels.
