68 W100 with 360 and a modern webber.

Bout 10 depending if I am going up hill or down hill, summer or winter, 4wd or 2 ... but bout 10 ...ish. :lol:

I have a 69 Short Box 4x4 W100? 318 4 speed 4-11 gears stock 2 barrel I really dont know the exact GPM out of it but I have driven it back and forth cross country several times and it never let me down I wasn't pushing it really hard or fast but I can assure all of you I was getting a lot better than 10mpg out of it.

I need to restore it but it still runs and drives and has a little rust, really need a set of tires on it right now. I really wanna restore it but I have no idea when I will get the time I have so many projects ahead of it right now and My health isnt what it used to be.

the engine has an Original Forged Crank with a set of forged full floating pistons in it, Clevite 77 bearings and Chrome rings the heads are off a Plymouth 73 318 and should have been rebuilt but they came off a good running engine so I cleaned them up and put new seals on the valves and reran them. I did have a fresh set of 360 heads on it till My kid floated the valves and I had to pull the heads for a bent valve. It didn't hurt the piston but did bend a valve. any way it runs again with the 318 heads just not as good as it did with the 360 heads on it. I would like to find a set of 67-70 318 318 heads for it It has stock cast iron exhaust manifolds and dual exhaust.

It has a Closed Knuckle Danna 44 in front Geared transfer case and a 8 3/4 rear end 410 gears fron and rear it could use either lockers or Sure grip carriers in both axles always been a wish for the rig.

If any one has Pieces parts I am looking for I would be interested not to many Old Short boxs around.

Also looking for HP BB 440 and 400 engine parts

My W200 crew has a fresh Magnum 5.2, with sequential injection, a518 with OD and lock up, with 4.10 gears. Does the same as my 71 with a worn 400, a727, and 3.73 gears. 10 mpg.

Only thing I have seen where anyone was doing drastically different was with a diesel swap.

A lot of guy's are running Pertronix conversions, with no problems, but I have never run them, which is just a hall effect trigger for the coil, similar to the GM HEI distributor.
I always just go with the MP electronic conversion.
I've never had any issues with the MP setup, but it is very important to make sure the coil and ballast resistor are matched. A lot of people don't match the coil to the ballast resistor, thus Chrysler electronic ignition system got a bad rap for resistors burning out or failing along with cheap aftermarket ECU boxes failing too. The MP orange ECU is probably the most reliable unit out there.
The only true CD setups other than MP are the MSD, Jacobs Electronics, Crane, etc. JMO

Ignition coils are built with different resistance values and the coil has to match the resistor. Most Chrysler ballast resistors are rated 1.5 ohms and the coil has be made for the same resistance on the primary side of the coil.
Accel makes coils designed for Chrysler ignition systems and that is what they base it on.

I've run the MP conversion on several different vehicles with no problems. I also use the MP Chrome boxes with no issues. I plan to be using the REV-N-NATOR control module by the end of this year.

I must be doing pretty good with my 69 PW. If I drive mine like my dad drives his, I can get 12.5mpg with 4bbl 360 4spd 4.10 gears. Now my 77 w100 is another story. 383 auto 3.54 gears. 8mpg on a good day.

Yep, like the others have said, I got 10 MPG average with a 4bbl 318 (mildly ported heads and a bit of cam) and 4.88s. If I was really carful I could get 12-13 but the traffic around me was less than impressed :lol: . When I swapped to the diesel I swear it got into the 30s if I kept it around 55. If your trying to decide between a 318 or a big block, go with the biggest one you can get your hands on. The mileage wont be better, but you will enjoy the truck a lot more!

Im getting about 10.2mpg, 71 w200 318-3 w 2bbl and, 4.10s, I know on my gone but not forgotten 66 D100 w slant 6 I added a water injector kit, went from 11.3- 12.7MPG. I was just digging thru my stuff and found another water injector setup im going toss it in tomorrow and do a milage check.
