Dodge 2 ton truck

Post by DaltonSparks »

I've got a 70 D500 and been having getting the brakes done but broke the ear off of the wheel cylinder push pin. Can't find anything online but was thinking of making one out of some round stock. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 70 D500 and did brakes a number of years ago. Not sure what push pin you are referring too,
Got a pic of it.
My truck is younger than me.

Sounds like the push rod between the piston and the shoe, with the slot in the end that the shoe rides in. Very common part, should be a million of them in wrecking yards, but a real PITA to get to.

Exactly but there isn't any yards where I'm at. I know the rear end was used in some Ford's and internationals but haven't had any luck locating a part number or a place that may have them.

When I worked on the brakes for my D 500 I needed some small parts for adjusters. Ordered them at a medium/heavy duty truck part6s supplier.

As you said, Other manufacturers used the brakes/axles.
My truck is younger than me.

Once I either find a part number or get some made I'll post it here. Now the wheel cylinder PT# was a dorman W28661. I paid $65+ a piece but they were a exact match

Definitely different wheel cylinders than the ones in my 70 D500. My truck has 2 wheel cylinders per wheel.
Front and rear axle in mine are 5000 LB and 15000LB according to VIN plate.

Oh I know I over paid but the original Bendix number was a 9743 I believe and for who I had to deal with that number didn't do anything so I had to order a few that looked close and pick one.

I would post pictures but every time I try it says file size to big. Anyhow the D500 I have also has 2 wheel cylinders per side, the truck was used to feed cattle so it's a little rough but it drives

For help with posting pics go to forum help there is a thread with info on how to shrink file size so your pics will post on this site.

This is my 70 D500 toy. Pulled 318-3 and installed a 400 BB i had in shed.

Truck had 25000 original miles but sat in a barn for 25 or so years before I got it in 2002.. Engine was seized,

Dodgeboykim that's a sweet truck, is that crane powered by the pto? Or is it electric over hydraulic?

PTO off the 435 trans. Crane is a 1969 Hiab Speedloader.
