Well, my current project with my 1971 w sweptline is removing the flat black primer paint from the firewall and engine bay that the previous owner got carried away with. Under this, the original 70's gold color paint is revealed, and is looking much better. I spent 4,300 on it this year on engine work and twin fuel tank materials. I'm still on the fence about what to do with the automatic transmission that came with my truck....it's out of a '84 RC as well as the 318. Honestly I'd like the original 4 speed manual with divorce t-case. I'd have to install clutch pedals, and my steering column is from an automatic trans. Still a ton of work to be done from the steering shaft to the drive shafts. Got an excellent book on automotive electrical too, which seems to be my strong suit in this project, and will need to address some areas of lighting, fuel sending unit, cab lights, and door jam dome lighting.

If you decide to go back to 435/205, I should still have all the original parts here to do that, including bell, flywheel. clutch, linkage, pedals, column, crossmembers and drivelines.

I didn't do anything to my truck, but I did work on cleaning my shop. Winter is here, and I can't work on my truck until I rearrange all the crap I've bought so it all fits in my very small garage.

I need a bigger shop. My shop is like an old sailing ship, I can run it for a year before I have to beach it and clean the barnacles off of it. As my cousin put it, when you pull the truck into the shop there isn't enough room to fart, and that's a bad situation when you're working on an old truck.

I moved the fire trailer out from in front of the house. I filled The Green Truck with live oak leaves off the driveway and out of the ditches for about 300 feet (one truck full).

Drove them to a newly graded road to protect grass seed (California brome (Bromus carinatus) and perennial blue wild rye (Elymus glaucus)) from rain impingement and to provide a slow fertilizer from actinomycetes decomposing tannins.

Leaves are to be spread tomorrow. I'll raid the lower half of the driveway for more as needs demand.

There's a whole thread about it over on one of the power wagon sites. I would post pictures here except I am now using my wife's laptop which doesn't have any. They are all located on my laptop which no longer works.

It's a 75 model. 2 1/2 ton 4x4 with Rockell axles & t-case. Weighs 9700 lbs & the door handles are about level with my forehead. I'm 5' 11"

I used to drive it every week. Then I got married, bought a house/pool/etc & all the entanglements involved (mortgage, chores) & the driving dropped to every few weeks, then mainly during our rare snow events or just as rare nice weather days.

As the truck became less dependable I sorta gave up on it. Really don't have the time energy or money to jack with it much. There is always something else around here that is more urgent.

I bought it off of craigslist back in 2010 & had it shipped from Colorado to Texas the following Summer.

The site where I wrote about it is www.powerwagonadvertiser.com

My trucks usually need something done to them but haven't needed anything serious lately. I drive the 64 D100 1-2 times a week, the 65 A100 about once or twice a month cause it's further back in the shop while the D is just inside the door.

Now for a little Off Topic.

This yr I brought my 65 long top home from storage at a friends shop, and then like seanseisk I was out-a-room. So I bought a 20' shipping container to move my mowers out of my enclosed so I could move one of my projects out of the shop to the enclosed. Ah...more room.

Then got another bright idea,...My front deck mowers are 9ft long and If I lift the mower up in the back of the container I can drive the other mower underneath and have enough room left to store my skid with grapple for the winter and have maybe 1-2ft of floor space left.

Building a table now to rest the grapple on over one mowers front deck and under the lifted mowers deck at the same time. A bit cramped but the tape measure says it'll work. Wasn't thinking of the skid when I bought the container, and would've bought a high cube also if I had though of stacking mowers.

Great story! I'm in the process of moving utilities and pouring slabs to the same ends. A shed for safe storage of power equipment, solvents, fuels, etc. Currently I have 60ft of open trenches for gas pipe. The house is running on a 5gal propane bottle.

Got to talk today with a gentleman here, about going to the original 4 speed 435/205 set up for my 71 W . Pretty exciting! One day, I'll have this truck moving! Time to get busy!

That’s a good looking truck,but I can’t help paying attention to the A100.

Today was the day.
I flipped over the 383 on the stand. It has been patiently waiting it’s turn,I found a very worn thrust bearing.
Small spots of wear on only 2 of the mains on bearing surface the others looked good.
The concerning part was about an 1/8 inch of play for and aft in the crankshaft.
Any advice??

Wouldn't the fan spinning on the front keep the crank full forward against the thrust bearing?

I wouldn’t think so the fan is on the water pump.
