Classic car radio

Post by Sweptline66 »

Hey good folks, got a 66 Power Wagon. Was wondering what you put there have used to upgrade your radio, but keep the classic look. Lots of options, just trying to get a feel of what's good. Thanks.

I had the link for one a few weeks back and deleted it after use. Just have to do some searching.

Dodge trucks and many Ford Broncos/trucks utilized the same radio up till about '68, the Dodge had a smoother faceplate with metal knobs and different font, the ford had lines running vertical under the glass and plastic knobs with white centers if I remember correctly. Both of these radios were manufactured by Bendix. One thing to note is the plastic spacer used on dodges to angle the radio upwards will not fit as far as i know, on the ford radios, the tuning and volume pot rods for the knobs are not long enough, if I remember when I got my ford radio I had to transfer the volume pot from the Dodge radio into it, I just flush mounted mine with no spacer. You can send off your old dodge radio and get it retrofitted with am/fm, Bluetooth, even a mic port so you could clip a lil mic to your sun visor and take hands free calling. You cant tell by looking at em there anything more than a stock radio, they even run an amp in em now with ports for conventional speakers. https://www.instructables.com/Adding-Au ... r-to-an-O/ this link is a good source for adding an aux port to your existing AM radio, this is what i initially did with my dodge radio before i realized I had the wrong ohm range speaker hooked up and killed the germanium output diode. This link is good because the guy just happens to be using a ford radio, identical guts to what your radio should have, as long as you use the correct speaker you should be good with this method. www.bendixradiofoundation.com/documents ... usList.pdf shows all the radios they used, page 18 has the dodge one, theres a bunch of ford ones, because of all the revisions they did. The ones with the same faceplate as the first 3 on page 7 should all work, just search for them by the model numbers. good luck :Thumbsup

Retro Sound. Simple to install, looks period correct. Bluetooth music from your phone works very well. Lots of options if you want.
