Fuel Injection on a swetpy?

Post by RAYMAN »

Has any one installed a FiTech or holly sniper efi on a 318la in a sweptline? What are your opinions on it and how hard was it to install. I have been thinking about doing it for a while, but I cant decide.
Im old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway.

only ones I have been looking at are a universal that bolt onto the 4 barrel intake. I was just curios what peoples opinions on this are and if anyone who has done it has any words of wisdom.

Some guys over on the Ramcharger Central site have done the Holley Sniper. Not on a Swepty but on 70's & 80's carbed engines like 318, 360 & 440.

You may be able to read up on what bugs they had to work out & how pleasing the final results are.

I personally haven't tried FI.

would think if its a sm block dodge you use a 2000s 5.2 or 5.9 set -up
would think it would bolt on then you could find a tune for one

I've been very pleased with the Holley Snipers I've owned and worked with. The brand of engine that you bolt the throttle body EFI atop doesn't matter, they're all universal. It's important (and easy) to buy the right model such that the fuel and air capacity of the throttle body match the engine's needs, The fuel system / plumbing is not to be overlooked in budgeting $ and time for the project.

They stopped putting la motors in the Dakota around 2000 in favor of the 4.7.

LA became Magnum around 92/93, Magnum gave away to 5.7 Hemi about 2002. I have no idea what followed after.

yeah think my nephew had a 2000 dakota with a 5.9 ,my 01 was a 3.9
its a nice looking FI system think it would be an easy cheap swap
the only thing that i might think would be differnet might be a spot on the block for a knock sensor

A 92 up Magnum V8 MPFI System will not bolt onto an LA Block. Countless people have used aftermarket bolt on FI Systems due to relative ease of conversion. Its up to you to research and decide what's best.

The 92 up Magnum V8 engines have been bolted into older carbed vehicles by turning the electronics for engine into a stand alone system. That info is out there.
A 5.9 Magnum stand alone harness was also available from an engine harness conversion supplier.
