i've always had big block mopars...ie 383s and 440s in my trucks, I now have two with 318s! a 67 w300 and a 68 Fargo W200, is there an easy way to tell if the engine is a poly or a la? Thanks

The lower edge of the valve covers on the Poly is jagged. On the LA it is straight, similar to the big blocks.

Exhaust ports are equally separated on the poly.

Poly has 2 bolts on the top of the valve cover - 1 ea end. LA valve cover has bolts all around the edges.

Like Bucky said, poly exh ports are 0 0 0 0, LA are 0 00 0.

Your 67 and 68 should both have LA, if stock.

The Poly engines were A blocks. Then there was B block engines, which were the big block wedge engines (350,361,383,400). Also there was the RB (raised B) blocks tall383, 413, 426, 440.

The LA I think was "later" A. Included 273, 318, 340, 360
