D100 Towing Options?

Post by jimharold »

Hello All,

I have a 68' D100, 318/auto Sweptline shortbed. My folks may be getting a trailer soon, to live in short term, that I will purchase from them when they buy a home. Question is what should I do to my truck to make it safe to pull with and a reasonable limit for weight?

Just to make things fun I also have a 68' D200 rolling frame I can steal parts from. And 383 or 413 engines with auto transmissions on the side, both from trucks. And I have been eyeballing that QA1 IFS kit.

So throw out ideas and wild butt suggestions. I am open to all.
Here is what I have to work with.

Thanks one and all,
Jimharold

I have not seen towing package specifications for '68 trucks yet, but you can see what was included as well as recommended for the '68 cars at https://www.hamtramck-historical.com/im ... ra0019.jpg

I would add an aftermarket transmission cooler also to help the automatic last longer.
