New to forums 1967 D100

Post by ROD100 »

New member here with a 1967 D100 Utiline shortbed. Slant six with 4spd, several leaking one barrel Holley carbs and chasing electrical gremlins with turn signals and brake lights. Otherwise runs and in decent shape with only minor rust. Have plans for a frame off resto, 400 big block with auto, IFS, PS and brake upgrades in the next few years. Kind of new to the Dodge scene and like that the truck is not as common but still has good looks. Will be looking lots for knowledge base here on the forums. Yes I know it has a 1968 grill.

Another nice one in AK! I've seen a dozen or more down on the Kenai peninsula over the yrs. Looks like a 69-71 front bumper. That light duty rear bumper is hard to find and a nice touch.
FYI, your truck is either a late 65 or 66, not a 67. The refrigerator style door handles ended in 66. Swapping those doors onto a 67 or later truck requires serious mods. You can decode your VIN here to know exactly what it is:

Very nice looking truck. You don't see many in dark blue. I too have a '67 D100 utiline. :clap

Post some pics of the interior and the bed.

PwrWgnDrvr you are correct. My truck does show to be a 1966 according to the VIN decoder. It's titled as a 1967 though. I do like the refrigerator style door handles. Very cool and in pretty good shape. The blue is an older repaint that is flaking off. Original color looks to be a beige. I don't like the rear bumper as much. The curves makes me think it would be more at home on a VW vs a Dodge truck. I suspected the front bumper was not original as well. Thanks for the welcomes and looking forward to working on it. I have started a build thread on it as well.

Most definitely a decent looking truck in great shape. Are you going to return it to its original colour or stay with blue or maybe another colour?

Maybe for now just give it a good cleaning, wash, and polish and then enjoy the truck for awhile.

Just going to clean and polish it for now. Trying to find touch up paint to match. Have no idea what the current blue metallic is. Its not clear coat.
The last owner had put brown foe rust spots on it. Been taking that off and just trying to give it a cleaner look. Got a few mechanicals to work out. I am thinking about maybe one day black with silver accents on hood and cab and a little chrome. But that perfect bodywork for black does scare me a little and the hard to keep clean. got a few rust spots and some dents to fix to get it show ready.

Don't know about down there but some Napa stores (up here anyway) can scan your paint and do a colour match.

My truck is red and rather than a repaint, which is in decent shape, I painted the hood recesses matt black, as well as the small recesses next to the rear window and the tops of the box sides. Looks really sharp to my eye and breaks up the overwhelming red.
