1969 d100 front springs

Post by breed »

Purchased a 1969 d100 Adventure a couple of months ago that was rebuilt 14 years ago,the owner advised me that he removed 2 leafs from front the front suspension to level the truck as most sweptlines front ends sat higher than rear. I noticed the axle the touched the header. Is this a common practice to drop the front suspension to level these trucks for apperance É

De-arching the leaf springs vs. removing leafs is the better way to go. I did that on my '71 D100 and it brought it down with no issues. Now it isn't quite as low as I want it to be but that will only come when I put an IFS on it.

De-arcing will push the shackle forward the exact same amount. That's basic high school geometry.

The shackle moves all the time as the springs flex up and down on the road. That's the purpose of the shackle.
