So I just got a 1967 Dodge D100 with a slant six and 4 speed manual trans. Was looking to put either a 318 or 360 was wanting to know if any of yall would know what manual trans would hold up. I'm assuming that the factory trans. I have now will not work.
If anyone could give me some insight.
need input.

Re: need input.
The trans you have now is what the factory put behind every truck, incl the 413.
You can't put a 360 w/o a major machining hassle to balance the flywheel. Good luck finding a shop that can do it.

My '67 D100 shorty was originally a slant 6/3 tree. Replaced with a '66 318Poly/np435. You can use the bellhousing/clutch from the /six and your 4 speed behind a 318 small block. You will need small block truck motor brackets. Stick with a 318, as Terry stated, the 360 is externally balanced and PITA to use with your present setup.

The A/LA 318 will drop right in with the correct engine mount brackets
and rubber insulators. You'll need the correct hydraulic clutch flywheel
for it along with the clutch components. You will also need the proper
radiator. The engine portion of your wiring harness "can" be used but
you might be able to get this portion of harness specific to the V8
from a member through the Parts Wanted section.
