Disaster avoided today

Post by my5thmopar »

Pulled the D100 truck out of the garage today. I’m backing up turning around and bang. Thank the Lord. I’m blessed this happened in the driveway and not running down the road. Yup tie rod. Craig

This is the dropped tie rod end from Speedway? From what I can see in your picture, the break occurred at the beginning of the threads. Is this correct? Have you contacted Speedway yet and if so, what was their comment?

I would have the other side magna-fluxed to see what you might find.

I always pat the hood of the vehicle if it breaks in the driveway and not on the highway. And tell it "Good Boy". Like finding a flat tire before a drive. My floor jack is 10 feet away, easy fix. So give the old truck a smile and pat next time you go by it.

Yes at the thread. It looks like the thread machine was set too deep. I’m not sure if from Speedway because I they were attached when I got the front end as a unit. I think it’s from them. I ordered a new set last night. Thanks Craig
