My W500 crew cab on 46s

Post by skyrodder666 »

Thought I'd show some progress on my '66 W500 crew cab. I was able to find a good replacement for my old widow makers. These trucks share a bolt pattern with M35A2s or Deuce and a half trucks. They figured out you can use military surplus mrap wheels and tires as super singles. I gambled on them fitting and they worked. Tires are 395 85 20s. Wheels are regular bead lock mrap wheels. They're like 20x11. Two piece bolt together wheels. Only very slight mods to fit. Removed factory spacers between steps and flares. Pushed flares back to steps and self tapered them for now. Bent excess flanges. You still retain a very factory look without cutting the flares. Bed is from a Kaiser M715. It's a couple inches from fitting prefect but it'll definitely work. Wheelbase is 157 and right in the middle of early and late long bed crews if you're wondering why I didn't add a factory bed. Still lots left to do but she's almost a driver.

Its fitting that your picture is taken at a fuel station. That's about the only place I drive my W600

6 on 8.75 is that bolt pattern you mention.

Nice truck

Yes sir that is the bolt pattern. Late 60s and 70s Ford's had the same pattern as well. You can sometimes find them in 22.5 if you want a more street able tire.

Yes I am quite anxious to see how it drives and performs offroad. With 6.80 gears, these tall tires and, an NP540OD I will actually be able to run highway speeds. If I'm brave enough 😄
