another newb with a unique d100
another newb with a unique d100
Hello all, newbie from Oklahoma here. I have had mopars since the eighties but just bought my first 65 recently. I just moved from California and drug a few things with me. The new truck is an early 65 d100 that is an old California forestry truck. It has 8 lug wheels, a dana 60, heavy duty suspension and a spotlight. All of this is documented on the sert tag. Pretty weird for a d100, I guess. Looking forward to absorbing some info and bugging you guys.

That's really cool. The frame reinforcement is a a great upgrade. You can see it on the bottom of the frame. Not sure, but on the bottom line of the sert the T/C may be "traction control" which is what they called the limited slip in the rear axle. That's another great option. Check and see if O/S is "overload springs". Have never seen a SERT where they ran out of room to list stuff!
Re: another newb with a unique d100
The gentleman I purchased the truck from thought that was the spot light on the bottom line of the sert. Not sure.

I also wanted to ask you guys, Is there no way to "decode" the serts? like a fender tag on a car? I was also wondering what "express body" would be.....

There is one more tag, a smaller one above the data tag, it will have the actual vin on it. Probably starts with 1181.........
There is no way to decode SERTs. Ben has a partial book on them. I recently sent him a list with several from a unique W300 and none were in it :(

The SERT item that starts with T/C and 424XX is most likely something related to the tire carrier. Perhaps there is/was a light in this area.

interesting. The spot light has definitely been there since the beginning. and the vin does indeed begin with 1181. Thanks for the info guys. I am enjoying learning about this weird little truck.
