Newbie

Post by mjcraig9232 »

I am new to the forum, I am A high school auto shop teacher in Jasper Alabama. I pulled a 1966 Sweptline out of a field where it had been sitting 25 years. I installed ford wheels in order to tow back to the shop. The students and I were able to get engine unstuck pretty easy with marvel mystery oil and a breaker bar. I cleaned points and replace resistor block , added a battery and it fired up. We cleaned carb and installed a rebuild kit as well as fuel filter. Runs and idles fine and it stopped smoking after a few days. Me and the students replaced brake hoses and wheel cylinders as well as master cylinder. I have removed the power brake booster for now and run dual bowl manual brake master cylinder to stop. No gasket shave been replaced other than with the water pump. Everything works fine. I did have to put a replacement fuel tank in that i found at a guys house from a rolled over sweptline. I cant believe how tough it is. It looks old and dirty but is very dependable. I drive it just about every day for the past 2 years. I hope I can use forum to locate parts.

Hi there, I'm a newbie to the site as well to owning a D100. I'm not to far from you, I am in Kimberly, just north of Birmingham. I just purchased a 1970 D100, small block V8, automatic. I'm looking forward to getting underneath it and tinkering with it. Maybe add power steering to it and disk brakes.
