When taking apart the ole D500 I noticed that the wood looked pretty decent. Since I am in the trim phase of our 5 year remodel bank/home project I decided to take the sideboards apart.
Besides the wood being at least as old as the truck, a very high % of the wood was clear and from it's appearance looked like old growth. I decided to leave the age patina on it with the thru bolt holes and such. Lighter board on the underside is poplar, not from the truck, vertical insert is beetle kill pine.
Here's a pic of what it looked like

This pic didn't turn out to good it's the front window. I planed and sized the wood. Then depending on where it goes I provide some accents with the saw or router to make the wife happy.

That's a nice way to repurpose some old wood.
