Looking at buying this 67 sweptline

Post by alloy »

I can get it for $1500. He says it runs and drives, has rust in the bottom of the doors and the leading edge of the hood. I did see that there are patch panels for this, just depends on how far gone they are if patch panels will do it. With the signs on the doors I want to preserve the doors at all costs if I get it.

Looks like the engine could have been replaced. This will be my first Dodge in may years. I'm going to look at it tomorrow.

I saw the radiator. Just one more thing needing to be fixed. I've found air cleaners on ebay for about $60. Looks like it may be a newer engine. The carb doesn't look stock, but I may be wrong.

He's had it for sale for over week, no one has come to look at it yet. Going to try for $1200 cash and see what he says.

There looks to have been a long history of master cylinder leaks in that truck. That suggests a rotted driver's side floor pan at least. Some of that you can get from Exline, but others not so much.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I'm bringing a flashlight and will definitely check that. I'm not a welder so can't do that type of repair work. My step son is, but hasn't done sheet metal. I'm hoping he can do the door bottoms and hood.

My Dad's 66 D100 sat in his garage for 20 years and I checked on it periodically and I just recently got it road worthy. New Champion radiator and all hoses last weekend, 160 deg thermostat, Raybestos master, brakes and cylinders, shoes all around, DOT 5, alloy wheels, tires, complete exhaust, alternator, fuel pump. Left to do is motor mounts, seat upholstery, carb work, etc. All this is worth it! Great vehicles!

If he's familiar with a MIG he can probably do it, but I would recommend some time spent on YouTube watching others manage the heat going into the surrounding sheet metal.

:welcome . If you do end up making a deal on this truck, just be realistic on what your budget will be to bring it back. Take a good look at the floors, steps, hood lip ( inside),cowl vent areas, etc.. A $1,500 truck can easily end up $10k+. There are a lot of good Swepts. in your neck of the woods, so if you pass on this one, there will be another with your name on it. ( My 2nd sweptline '61 shorty came from Kenniwick,WA.) good luck. :Thumbsup
