Bought my Delray

Post by WD »

1956 Chevy 210 2dr sedan. Retired drag car. Comes with several sets of trim, lots of Nomad and Impala pieces. 350/350 and post-64 10 bolt. Has late 50 and early 60s Foxcraft suspension components. Swivel bucket seats that need a lot of work.

Was bugging an older friend about building it... he screwed up and named a price. I have the title now...

$350 cash on the barrel head
If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.

1949 Dodge B1B-108; 1969 D100-128; 72 Super Beetle; and a bunch of others...

The 69 D100 will be hauling the 56 to shows as an in progress custom for the next few years. The 49 truck will be toting custom bicycles in the bed, custom motorcycles on a trailer.

Have to buy projects/toys when the timing works out. The build order has not changed, the trucks get finished first.

Did I need the car? Not even remotely. Friend wanted it out of his garage. He’s 72, has 3 other cars to rebuild and is in failing health.

Have to figure out pictures via i-phone... they are all too big...

Car hasn’t been assembled since the 1970s. Engine came out of a wrecked police Caprice, as did the transmission. 850cfm Q-bog, hei, chrome or sandcast valve covers, worked exhaust manifolds...

Car has sub-30k miles, most added 1/4 mile at a time...

Keeping the Foxcraft suspension parts, the post-65 rear axle and springs, but going full Larry Watson early custom on the outside. Visor, skirts, spotlights, Impala antennas on the rear, multiple color panel and lace paint, etc. Think drag car meets East LA lowrider...

And his grandson insisted on buying it back to keep it in the family. Fully understand, as I have one of my grandfather’s trucks.

Still came out of it fine.

Sounds like the right thing to do.

I remember doing a trade with a good friend of mine in '83. I had a '70 Superbee
383/727 and my pal had a '73 340/727 Dart Sport. He wanted a big block B-body
so we traded a day or two before another friend and me took off for the MoPar
Nationals in Detroit. When I got back, my mom said my friend was desperate
to talk with me and to call him the minute I got back in town. He had "traders
remorse" and missed his Dart. I traded back and never gave it a second
thought. :Thumbsup He still owns that Dart Sport to this day. The guy I went
to the Nationals with that year still owns my old '70 Superbee. :clap
