1970 Dodge Dude camper special

Post by crank1 »

Hi guys! My name is John and I am a new member. I need some help with some information on a 1970 Dodge Dude camper special that I recently purchased.I bought it out in Wyoming from the original owner and he said when he bought it the truck new it was one of five made.It is in beautiful shape 13000 original miles on it and still has the original tires also have the window sticker and purchase agreement that shows that it was a dude pkg. The problem is that I can not find any information regarding a camper special with the dude pkg and I don't know if it is rare or not. I really need some help if anyone out there has heard of this truck. Thanks

Pictures please!
I'm not sure there is any way to verify the production numbers, but it sounds like you have one of the best surviving Dudes out there.

:welcome Sounds like you have a special truck. Go to the help section on the opening page, will help you load pictures( most have to be reduced in size). :Thumbsup

For help with resizing pictures. You can install a picture "resizer" app on your phone that will allow you to easily change the size and post the pics from your phone, that's what I do, haven't actually used a computer in years.

There was a guy here years ago with a 71 Dude Camper Special. There is probably no way to verify how many Camper Special Dudes were made. What color is yours and what color stripe does it have?

The truck is white with a black stripes. I'm still working on sending some pictures of the truck but not having very good luck. Can I send them to someone's phone and they can post them?

I'm just the opposite, I can do things with my laptop but haven't a clue how to send things from my phone to anything on the internet. Of course mainly because I just have a flip-phone.

If nobody can get them posted from a phone maybe email them to a member.

Thanks! I quess I don't know about the tailgate but the truck is completely original even the paint so I'm sure the tailgate is correct. I removed the seat in the one picture to remove the gas tank to clean it out.

You should also purchase a factory service manual. Available from www.autobooksbishko.com

Thanks! I also have the original owners manual with it also. The original owner is 89 yrs old and when he came outside to say goodbye to his truck he told me that it was one of five built. I have to believe him because there is no information to prove him wrong. And out of the five that we're built chances are that this might be the only one around anymore. Ok so here is my dilemma. What do I do with this truck? Is it worth anything? Or do I just drive it and enjoy it? Just not sure what to do with it. With 13502 miles on it I really don't want to put more miles on it. Help!

Its worth what u paid for it. Unless u got a really sweetheart deal, you can't flip it and make a killing.

The best thing you can do for that truck is to drive it. Machines don't like to sit idle. I'd expect the brake hydraulics to be toast.
