Hello All
I've never posted to any forum before, so please excuse my lack of knowledge when it comes to proper etiquette. Just picked up my first D100 about a month ago and I've been reading a lot of posts here ever since. It was nice to find a place with so much helpful information and I really appreciate the time and effort that the administrators and posters have invested. I'm still looking at different directions to go with this project and hope to get some good ideas from you all. Mine is a 1963 D100 S.B. Utililine with a slant 6 in pretty rough shape, but pretty unmolested. Unfortunately the last owner had spray bombed parts of it in primer and made impossible to use that " patina" finish it had so I'm Thinking about going the Rat Rod route, lowered in primer. It's not in the budget to restore and body work and paint are not something I'd try on that level. It needs some rust repair in the floors, lower door skins and cab corners but the rest is not bad. There doesn't seem to be too many of these trucks here in SW Fl., but if anyone knows of any bone yards that don't crush anything older than 2000, I'd be interested in where they are.

Sounds great! Start a build thread.

Over on the Volkswagen sites they've made it an art of getting multiple layers of crappy paint off and going for that faded/worn original rat rod paint look. Just takes a lot of wet sanding. PM me and I can send you a link of what a guy did in my neighborhood, and he color-matched and then patina'd the new paint to match the original. It turned out really well - you can barely tell that he repainted at all.

Nice looking truck. Good luck with your project!

I've said this before - in my alternate universe I am retired by the beach.
