I'm thinking that I want to make a set of wooden rails to add to the sides of my bed. Something that goes in to the stake pockets with one or two long boards. I want these to be possible to take off when I don't need them so nothing that will be permanently attached.

Has anyone here made anything like this and want to share pictures and info?
What dimensions and type of wood did you use?
I'm thinking that I want to get a heavyduty tarp that can be attached to these as a cargo cover if I ever need it.

They might be a bit rough for your taste, but
they go good with my beat up truck.

Back on the farm, we would always put the posts on the outside and rails on the inside. Just saying

So, I'm into modelkits and one of the first kits I built was Monograms 1940 Ford pickup street rod, in this red with flames edition from 1985.
The kit has exactly the look that I'm looking for on the bed side rails.



Here they have put the rails on the inside of the posts just as digdoug says.
