Walmart 235/75-15 tires

Post by jimharold »

Hey Guys,

I am looking for some new wheels and tires for my 68' SWB and saw these at Wally World. Goodyear Wranglers 235/75-15 for only $73 each. I have 235's on the truck now and they look good but I want a big/little combo. So I have to pass. The wranglers must be some kind of OEM tire since they only have that one size. Good price if someone wants Goodyear. Just thought I would pass along the info.

Happy hunting,
Jimharold

I shopped for tires for a very long time and ended up purchasing through Wal-Mart. Couldn't beat the price. I took two years to shop and the one thing that truly amazed me was how often the price on tires changes, almost daily in some instances.

I hated my goodyear, fast wear. I paid up for Michelin and love them.

My dad always buys tires at Walmart. Not because of the price, but because of the fact that if you have trouble you usually are never more than 30 miles from a Walmart and they are open 7 days a week. Can't make that claim about tire stores.

Having sat in a Walmart parking lot with a SUV full of Boy Scouts, I'd have to agree that Walmart is the best place to stop for tires... ok guys, we're eating hot dogs for lunch, let's go.

I agree on the Michelin tires, you generally get what you pay for. It seems right now the 235/75R15 LT size is what's available out there. I plan on getting the Michelin Defender LTX M/S 235/75R15s soon.

Only thing to remember is... if you have aftermarket aluminum wheels Walmart will not touch them.

It's actually that Goodyear only still makes that particular tire in that one size. They've been making them forever and as such are super cheap, since the molds and technology are all long-paid for. They're not a bad tire for the money, but they're made using tech from the 80's (which on a truck with tech designed in the 50's isn't necessarily a bad thing). As long as your expectations aren't too high you won't be disappointed, lol.

i believe those goodyear wranglers are OEM on Jeep Wranglers with 15" steelies..

at least, that was what my cheap used craigslist set came off of...
they ARE wearing fast in front but only on the inside edges 'cause my kingpins are quite worn

there seems to be a few different tread patterns though.. i'm not really sure how to distinguish them

The tires on my truck were purchased at walmart but I had to special order them. They are Uniroyal Laredos and were built at the Uniroyal tire plant that I worked at and I even knew the person who inspected them. That's been quite a few years ago, I remember making sure the guy that was installing them knew about the left handed threads on the left side of the truck. He looked at me like I was crazy.
