While this is non Dodge, I hope it is ok to post it here.

Post by DB69 »

I have recently been off the computer for almost 5 weeks due to having a complete left hip replacement.
I already see improvements from before surgery, and while I am weaker than usual, I am much better off.
I see improvement daily, and am looking forward to the start of car show season.
I know of a few Dodge dealers who still have car shows, plus I want to go to the Mopars at The Red Barns
which is near Kalamazoo MI which is about 125 miles from me one way. I won the one and only plaque that I ever
got for showing one of my Dodge trucks there in 2011. I won 3rd place for modern (1980 and newer) trucks.
I was unable to attend any car shows last year.
My 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Laramie Club Cab that is rust free may hopefully attract attention.
I know that it is not a Sweptline, however it is a Dodge! (is there any other brand of truck?) I don't think what
they call Dodge trucks now counts! I don't drive a Ram, I drive a Dodge Ram!
It has less than 84,000 miles on it and everything in it works. It is the nicest of all the trucks I have owned
as far as options go since 1988
In all that time there has been less than 2 years that I did not own a Dodge truck, and a couple of times
I owned more than 1 truck at a time. However I have never owned any other brand of truck, even though I did own 2
Plymouths and 1 Chrysler, plus the 14 Dodges that I have owned since 1974
I am Hoping that all is well with all my friends here! :salut

Glad to hear your improving so soon from such a huge surgery, amazing what they can do these days and so quickly.
Sometimes they sneak some cool looking hardware in there too.

This is another update somewhat related to my original post.
On Thursday August 17 I had my right hip replaced and thought that I was on the road to recovery>
Ten days later I got really sick and my temperature spiked to 104 degrees. The hospital that I was in
had not been careful with infection control, and my surgical incision became infected and went into sepsis.
On Monday August 28 I had a second hip surgery and the surgeon used several gallons of antibiotic antiseptic
to flush the infection out and injected antibiotics into my bones to hopefully make sure my bones were not
infected. I also got a pic line so that I could undergo 6 weeks of daily infusions of antibiotics to rid me of the
infection which had spread throughout my body. My infusions ended on October 21 and the pic line was removed
that day. The next day I began 6 months of taking Amoxicillin capsules 3 times a day.
I am Blessed to have a friend who took wonderful care of me from September 29 until November 1 when I returned
to my home in La Porte IN.
I was in two different hospitals for 44 days, the second one being a "step-down" hospital. The second hospital
has some Doctors on staff who "practice there" and I was glad to get :censored out of there.
I am grateful that I managed to survive this ordeal, and I can say with all certainty that it was indeed an ordeal :pale
I am back to doing everything that I was doing before the surgeries that will take 6 months to heal and from the inside out.
I am getting a little stronger every day and am back to driving my Dodge Ram. :Thumbsup
I hope that it will not offend anyone when I tell all of you that I am Thankful to God to still be here. I almost died from sepsis.
I may not have Sweptline any more but I still like them as much as I did when I had one. There is something about Dodge trucks
that makes them better than the rest of them all combined. That is what makes me Dodge Different :salut

Tom,
That's quite a horrific event you've endured. Glad to know you're on the mend
though. :Thumbsup
